We’re thrilled with the reception to MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries - Shadow of Kerensky! The team has been watching your content, reading your posts, and taking notes. We’re keeping a close eye on your feedback (including AI weapon usage behavior) as we plan future updates.
In the short term our first hotfix is now in QA, and we wanted to share a preview of what’s coming. (notes below) Alongside this, we have prepared the Full Shadow of Kerensky Game update notes to cover the additional fixes and changes that shipped with the DLC. (notes below)
And if you missed the news, Japanese language support is also on the way in an upcoming patch.

HOT FIX 1 (to be released next week)
All Platforms
- Fixed an issue in Co-op where clients were unable to edit their ’Mechs.
- Fixed an issue on the “Lock and Load” mission where units could wander out of bounds.
Cinematics
- Corrected the warship lettering in the first cinematic (now displays CWS instead of CSJ).
- Fixed a ’Mech animation issue in the opening cinematic.
’Mech Fixes
- Loki: Corrected the orientation of Gauss weapons.
- Gladiator EXE-B and EXE B-B: Corrected the orientation of energy weapons.
Shadow of Kerensky Game Update and Bug Fixes
Free Base Game Update
New Character models
- Main cast has new, improved character models and portraits
- Updated existing holotable animations to use new character models
Pilot Traits - Pilots for hire and various reward pilots may now come with pilot traits with a variety of bonuses.
- A variety of reward pilots from the base game and previous DLC have been given traits
- Newly generated pilots can have 0 to 4 traits.
- The amount of traits is random, but influenced by mercenary reputation level and the level of pilot being rolled. High end pilots while at max reputation have a chance at 4 traits, for example.
- Some pilots, particularly low level pilots, may spawn with negative traits.
- These traits have drawbacks but also make the pilot cheaper to hire and have lower upkeep costs.
Improved Star Map Info
- Star map tooltips for missions now show additional information on contracts.
Market improvements
- Market markups are now tallied and displayed.
- Various bug fixes with rare weapons not showing up in the market correctly.
- Improved how lostech is added to market, increasing frequency later in the timeline and eventually showing up as regular items once past their reintroduction date.
Improved Travel Screen
- Jumpship animation removed for routine travel.
- Travel screen time reduced, now ending as soon as loading tasks are completed.
- Updated jumpship model.
BUG FIXES and IMPROVEMNTS
Co-op
- Fixed a bug where the host was unable to take over an AI 'Mech in co-op if their mech was destroyed.
UI/UX
- Updated Arena and Rival Intel level logos
- Adjusted colors of various star map icons to be more readable.
- Color-coded mech names in various UI screens to better highlight Hero and Special 'Mechs
- yellow: Hero 'Mech
- blue: Special ‘Mech (such as the Otomo variants from Dragon’s Gambit)
- Added hazard stripe effect to cooldown bar to distinguish between a weapon on cooldown that cannot be fired and one that can.
Weapon adjustments
- Increased PPC-X heat to be on par with a regular PPC (from 5 to 7)
- Lowered ERPPC heat (from 12 to 11)
- Lowered quirk values being applied to Tier 5 UAC/5-BF to be in line with other Tier 5 weapons.
- Fixed incorrect tags on burst fire rifles that was causing an issue with how rifles were spawning as rare market items.
- Fixes several tiers of streak SRM2s using the incorrect base stats.
- Fixed spread value on SRM artemis missiles that was resulting in similar spread to normal SRMs.
- Adjusted salvage share values of a variety of weapons to be more consistent with c-bill value.
Solaris Showdown
- Duncan Fisher’s Warhammer WHM-DNC now playable for Solaris Showdown owners.
- Arena AI now more active at the beginning of arena matches.
- Revised all arena mech availabilities to improve the variety of 'Mechs encountered in arena matches.
- Arena adjudicators will now be a more inclined to target only the player’s lance when deployed.
- Fixed availability for Thunderbolt TDR-5S-T Hero so it will no long be eligible to spawn as an arena opponent.
Misc
- Removed base aggro from treasure actor
- Added vacuum biomes to Warrior blacklist so it won’t spawn in procedurally generated missions if there is no air for its rotors.
- Difficulty 0 failsafe scenario “Destroy the Settlement” that can spawn when a mission fails to generate may now be completed properly.
- Fixes bug where "all targets scanned" dialogue would play when triggering evac in infiltration mission
- Improved collision on various objects in Hoodoo Desert and Scrapyard biomes to reduce chances of AI becoming stuck.
- Fixed an issue where allies in procedurally generated missions would use units picked from the enemy unit deck.
- Fixed an issue where enemy pilots would say component lost dialogue when they were actually destroyed.
- Fixed an issue where orders wouldn’t carry over if the player switched mechs.
